Ravintsara essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of the evergreen tree of the same name in Madagascar, which literally means "tree with useful leaves" and "leaves useful for everything" in the local language.

How to use:

Diffusion: Use 3-4 drops of ravintsara in an aromatherapy diffuser of your choice
Topical: Dilute 1 drop in carrier oil of your choice and gently rub into desired area

Cosmetics: Add essential oil not more than 0.5% to the finished product, stir with a plastic or wooden stirrer until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

True to its name, ravintsara leaves and essential oil are widely used in local folk medicine to treat respiratory infections, digestive problems, and as a pain reliever.

 

Ravintsara essential oil has a fresh aroma, strongly resembling that of eucalyptus oil, as it consists primarily of eucalyptol (1.8 cineole), a powerful substance with a number of proven therapeutic benefits.

Tips on use:

  • Diffuse 2-5 drops of ravintsara in an aromatherapy diffuser or alternatively soak a cotton pad for direct inhalation.

  • Add 1 drop of ravintsara to an herbal tea of your choice.

  • Dilute 2-3 drops of ravintsara in a carrier oil of your choice and gently rub the mixture onto your shoulders, neck and temples.

  • For gastrointestinal issues, dilute 2-4 drops of ravintsara in a carrier oil of your choice and gently rub the mixture on the abdomen after meals.

  • For chest and body infections and inflammations, dilute 1-2 drops of ravintsara in a carrier oil of your choice and gently rub the affected area.

  • Rub 2-3 drops of ravintsara on your feet after a hard day.

  • For body aches, rub 1-3 drops of Ravinsara diluted in a carrier oil of your choice over the painful area.

  • For headaches, dilute 1-2 drops of ravinsara in a carrier oil of your choice and gently rub the mixture on the forehead and temples.

  • For toothache and gum pain, dilute 3-5 drops of ravinsara in 50ml of water, use the mixture for gargling without rinsing with additional water.

  • Use 2-3 drops of ravintsara diluted in a small amount of coconut oil or body butter instead of deodorant.

  • Dilute 15 drops of ravintsara in 100ml of water in a spray bottle and use on surfaces and furniture.
