With a long history of use beginning in ancient Egypt, the benefits of geranium oil for beauty, health and mood have been proven over time and by a number of scientific studies.

 

ORIGIN: South Africa

AROMA: Sweet, floral, grassy and flowery

How to use:

Diffusion: Use 3-4 drops of geranium in an aromatherapy diffuser of your choice
Topical: Dilute 1 drop in carrier oil of your choice and gently rub into desired area

Internally: Dilute 1 drop in 200ml of liquid

Massage: Mix 5 drops with 50ml of base oil until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. –

Cosmetics: Add essential oil not more than 0.05% to the finished product, stir with a plastic or wooden stirrer until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

With a thousand-year history as a perfume and skin and hair beautifier, geranium oil is a popular ingredient in modern quality cosmetics.

Although there are over 200 species of geranium, only a few are cultivated for essential oil.

Home Spa's Geranium is of the species Pelargonium Graveolens and is extracted from the stems, leaves and flowers of organically grown plants in South Africa.

Tips for use:

  • Diffuse 2-3 drops of geranium with an aromatherapy diffuser

  • For a skin serum - dilute 1-2 drops of geranium in a carrier oil of your choice. Alternatively, you can add 1 drop to your daily skin care products.

  • For minor wounds and cuts – dilute 2 drops of geranium in a carrier oil of your choice

  • To remove fungus - dilute 2-3 drops in carrier oil and rub the affected area

  • For respiratory infections - inhale 2-3 drops of geranium from a piece of cotton.

  • For a spa bath - put 2-4 drops of geranium in the bath.

  • For a natural deodorant - combine geranium essential oil with a carrier oil of your choice, such as coconut oil. If desired, you can also add cornstarch as an absorbent

  • For an all-natural insect repellent with a wonderful aroma - combine 30-40 drops of geranium and 100ml of water in a spray bottle and spray your skin liberally.

Benefits and characteristics

Wrinkles and skin spots

Used by the ancient Egyptians to beautify the skin, today geranium oil is commonly found in high-end skin care products. It has healing, astringent, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, thanks to which it can tone, tighten wrinkles, purify the skin and give it a glow.

It promotes blood circulation and the uniform distribution of melanin in the skin, thereby evening out the complexion and removing blemishes.


Acne and skin inflammation

Due to its strong anti-inflammatory, nourishing, antiseptic and healing properties, the essential oil is useful for many inflammatory skin conditions (1). It is also antibacterial (2) effect, which makes it effective against many types of acne.

 

Infections

A number of studies have shown that geranium oil has strong antimicrobial activity against many bacterial and fungal infections, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, skin fungus, bronchitis and sinusitis.


 

Inflammatory neurological disease

Neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis are characterized by chronic neuroinflammation. Scientific studies show that geranium oil has a particularly impressive anti-inflammatory effect and can be beneficial for people with this type of disease. (1).


 

Anxiety and depression

Geranium oil has a calming and uplifting effect.

A hospital-based study of 100 mothers in labor showed that inhaling geranium essential oil significantly reduced stress and anxiety during labor. In other studies, geranium oil has demonstrated relaxing and antidepressant effects.

 

Natural desodorant

Due to its pleasant aroma, lightness, gentleness, skin benefits and antibacterial properties, geranium essential oil is a wonderful natural deodorant.

 

Insects and bites

Geranium oil is an effective and all-natural insect repellent (1), 

it is a common ingredient in commercial natural repellents.

In addition, due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it is an excellent means of care for insect bites.

 

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.

  • Before use, do a sensitivity test in the pit of the elbow flexion. If there is a rash or redness - do not use the product.

  • Do not use if allergic to the oil.

  • Do not use in children under 6 years old.

  • Concentrated product, dilute before use.

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have hypersensitive skin or want to use essential oil for your child, consult a specialist first!

  • Note: The oil is strong and is not recommended for allergic persons and during pregnancy, as well as its use in nursing mothers 2 hours before breastfeeding! When using it, consultation with a specialist is necessary!
